A little Antique Shopping On A Fall Cool Day Never Hurts Anyone... Right

So, as many of you know; Texas is a hot state and even in October the heat is still pretty strong, but we were lucky enough to get some cool weather this weekend which made me very happy since this weekend was the Houston Urban Antique Show. I'm not one to be out in the heat for long periods of time, so I wasn't sure if I wanted to be out in the sun although I did wanted to look for some antiques, but thankfully it was nice enough so I put my boots on a light jacket and headed out there.

They were a lot of great goodies like all these vintage letters, I really wanted to find a big "B" but unfortunately they didn't have any, they had all other letters but a "B"

Great furniture, and decorating pieces; vintage bikes and frames.

This piece would of had been a great buffer piece in my dinning room, but was quite out of my budget but it didn't stop me from taking a picture of it.

I also felt in love with this globes, they were so adorable.

Although I didn't buy much I did find my some neat stuff like this vintage french door keys at 9 dollars each, which was not bad at all. since some other lots had some more at 25 dollars a key.

I'm thinking of framing them all and hanging them in our bedroom.

Also, even though I wasn't able to find a "B"; I did find some old numbers that I can from up representing or wedding date.

they're are quite heavy since they are pure steel, and at 2 dollars each, I couldn't pass it up.

I also bought this frame of a vintage hemisphere book, I don't  think the frame is vintage but I quite like the picture, the paper is still in pretty good shape.

So, at the end I came out with a nice buyout, along with nice weather, wine and some yummy appetizers.

Updating the coupon book

I know a lot of people use coupons, and they have their way of storing them, and using them. I'm not to shabby myself, I been using coupons for over two years already, and I have to tell you..you really do save alot.  They are a lot of work to keep up with, having to cut them, remember to use them and to not let them expire. All the time that I have been using coupons, I've been using a binder to store them.

The binder makes it easy to view your coupons, and dates; but when you're in a hurry and dont have time to put them in the slots it's a hassle since they don't always fit by sliding them but need to be folded.

Also, the binder is too big and takes too much space, so it won't fit in my purse unless it was big enough. Some times I will have to just take out the ones I need, when I  don't want to take the whole thing to the store. I just got tired of carrying it to the store every time.

So I finally decided to upgrade to something a little smaller. On one of my trips to target I got a coupon folder, that also has a handy note pad for notes.

The note pad comes in is very handy, since I can make ,a grocery list, and review it with my coupons to check which coupons might expire soon.

And it has several slots to file coupons. Even though it is not as easy to look at the coupons as it is  with the  binder, it's easier to carry, and to storage them when I'm in a hurry. But I can still storage them by categories so I can go directly to that one, depending on what I'm looking for.

I like to separate them by categories, like;

All my target coupons, for when I'm at target, I only have to go through those, unless I do not want to use manufacture coupons at target.

Which a lot of times I do have a target AND manufacture coupon, since target lets you combine them. like these two for lotion, I know others states let you do double coupon, but there isn't many stores in Texas that do, ( I think, or if they do they might be to far from me).

I also arrange all personal hygiene together, like body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, etc.

Toilet tissue, Kleenex, paper towels.

All food related coupons together, like can goods, nuts, cereal, etc

All cleaning supplies.

Now I can also keep some other store coupons in here, like Michel's and others, since I can carry this file with me at all times note that it fits in my purse without taking so much space.

Now, I have a better way of keeping up with all my coupons and carry them with me just in case I find myself at a store buying something that I know I have a coupon for, but can't use it because I left it at home. Don't you hate when that happens?  Well I do, and hopefully it won't happen so often now that I can keep it in my purse and not look like a school girl, not that there's anything wrong with that, but you know.

And I also have the note pad that will come in handy for my grocery list, as it is used for writing notes on coupons that might become expire soon if I don't use them, by making a list of dates to use them by.

I love the fact that it looks like any other diary book or note book, that is nice and slick, and fits perfecty in my purse.

How do you keep your coupons organized? I would love to know.

One Way Door No More.

So I will show you two pictures see if you can tell the difference.

Can't tell, well it's the door handle. See what happens was that out of nowhere our door handle became loose from the door to the point we couldn't even open the door. I tried fixing it but I guess it was just broken, so we finally decided to buy a new one.

We couldn't even put in a key, the good thing was that you couldn't tell it was broken from the out side, and you couldn't open it also so we had to go through the garage for over the month till we finally replaced it.

Even though we went to go buy it a week after it we didn't actually replace it till like two months after, talk about procrastinating.

Anyways,  one other thing, these type of door handles are expensive, almost 200 bucks,
and even though the brass one was nice I decided to go more of a darker color.

It took me a while to put it in, but once it was done it looked pretty nice.

Some of the old grooving was left from the old handle, but you can hardly tell.

It also stands out more against the wood than the brass one, and is more of a modern style.

Here's all the scraps left from the old handle.

The porch was also untended for quite some time due to my lack of remembrance to water the plants I had in the front door so they died, but lucky for me they are growing again.

Here's a close up to each of the parts that were put up. As I said you can see some of the grooving left from the original door handle, but you can hardly tell.

We can finally open and close the door again.

So, can you tell the difference now? of course it looks a lot better now that is clean after doing my fall decor

Inside Fall Decor

So yesterday I showed you the Front Door of my house, now I will take you inside; I did a little here
and there to make it feel like fall weather is hereto stay.

I did a few flower arrangements with the leaves I had bought for my wreath, and mixed several different ones together,

This particular I used for my breakfast table, along with some fall table mats I got at World Market;
They ended up fitting a little big for the table but oh well.

I also spread some pumpkins around the whole house, like these, that blend in with the other balls.

Some pine cones, and bowls ( I love my funky penguin tray)

I actually found those glass bottles at good will, which are pretty big right now.

I also found this white pumpkin bowl at good will, I think is really cute

As you can see in the first picture of this desk I had some starfish shells inside the lamp, but I traded them for some pumpkin. This desk was also found at Good Will I have yet to paint but I'm not sure what color yet, but for 14 bucks I couldn't resist, plus I had been looking for a table to put in that spot for quite some time already.

Like I said, I did several flower arrangements and this is one of them, the base is actually a little pallet I found at work, but since I have yet to figure out what to do with it, I figure I could use it for a base and it doesn't look so bad right!!!!????

Maybe I could write some thing on it?

I'm still working on my fire place, is missing character but I have yet to find what that is haha.
I just added some leaves and left it at that. :(

I think I should frame the fire place it just looks too plane?
Or hang the art it put more high to it?
More decor at the floor?

All of it.

Some more punkins around the house, the bird is poking it.

All of these pumpkins I got them at wall mart, they sale them  by the bag on the grocery section.

I saw this on  the Better Home and Gardens magazine, I though I give it a try, It doesn't look so bad.

Anyways, as good as it got, hahahhah

I hope I inspired some of you, it may not be a lot but I'm happy with it, I love the weather the outfits and feelings that Fall comes with cozy days at home warm up with a blanket and a cup of coffee.
