That doesn't look like the same back yard

As keeping with my front and back yard updates, will move to the back yard. Now our yard is very small that is the down side to living in new constructions they make the lots smaller and smaller every time, but now that I think about it is best that it is small because like I said before yard work is a lot of work.

So... of curse I forgot to take a before picture, is just one of those moments when you're in the grove and forget to go get your camera. This is as close as I can get

This was from when we first bought the house and the previous owners left a play ground for us although we do not have kid, so thanks to Facebook we were able sale it, just picture the backyard without the playground, is just a block of grass.

But now, is a little more like a patio, we're on a road to a beautiful lush oasis ahahh.

Most plants are still small so we just have to wait for them to grow, we pretty much just just made each plant hole over the ground and drop the trees, at first we were thinking of removing all grass but it was to much work, then after some research we found out that we can just put newspapers over the grass and will kill the grass and decompose over time without harming the environment, so we went with that and adding the mulch. As for all the stones, we just reuse the ones we already had, that were removed from out front yard, and had been sitting in our garage for quite some time.

I mix several kinds of trees and bushes along with some flowers, which hopefully start blooming pretty soon

Let's talk about that electric generator, box or whatever it is, unfortunately it had to be in our lot, this ugly thing, but I plan on just making some kind of fence to it where it can be hidden from the view, since is quite ugly. That's about as much as I can do to it, so will see how it goes.

The different angles show better all the different plants there is including some lovely hydrangeas which will see how they do, so far they're doing pretty good, unlike some I got last year and die. sad face.

I started with one since I wanted to see how it did before going and buying a bunch and dieing on me.

We're also planning on replacing or painting the fence as of right now is share with our neighbors.

So that is all as of right now with the back yard, I have to say is really nice looking out the window and seeing the pretty plants. I still want to extend the floor to the right and add a pergola and have a patio where we can bar BQ without the sun being on our face and have sitting for friends which right now we don't have. We're also making some above ground garden boxes where we are planning on growing some vegetables and herbs, that's our next project as of right now.

spring cleaning 2013

We bought our house back in Oct 2011 and the outside of  it looked like this.

We really didn't do much to the house other than cutting the yard, and last year we did a little trimming and plant a few flowers but, even then it wasn't much

Finally we decided, or maybe just me (hah the husband wasn't to much for it) that we were gonna take off some of the bushes and palm trees since they block most of the front door view out from the street, not to say I wanted a little more color.

So since the past three weeks we been working on our front and back yard.

I have to say maybe I went a little crazy at buying plants but, hey they more the better right.
Most of them are going to the back yard since there's not much back there.

We started by removing the big bushes at the front door, they just got to big to fast, and I wanted some more flowers. Those bushes always took over everything.

We had to use some big box that actually made it rolling to our front yard from a few houses away, it was pretty windy that day, but it really came in handy.

It was actually pretty hard to take some of them out, they were pretty deep in there. We ended up making a mess.

But after long hours and and sore bodies we finish the front yard

I have to say is hard work to do yard work, but the reward of seeing your yard neath and clean makes you feel better.

Taking off the bushes at the front door gives you a better view of the door from out the street, and they won't  over take the door anymore.

The whole yard is a lot more open and is not block off by big palm trees that were also a pain to take out.

Most of the plants and flowers are still small and adapting to the ground, but hopefully they get big and lush in a week or so.

Can I say that every year some birds try to make a nest right on my front door. Anyways hopefully tomorrow I will post on they back yard update.

Storage is a major factor

I think that one of the reasons why my craft room is been a mess, or any room for that matter, is because  storage is very important. Storage helps you be more organized and to have your stuff neatly put away. As ya remember I talked a little about some of the storage I had in this post.

Well one of them was this red "C" letter locker kind of thing.

Now,unfortunately there's no "C" in my last name but it is a "craft room" so I figure it would be "C" for CRAFT. For 5 dollars, who wouldn't find a way to make it work right?

I have finally got to a point where I have a better idea of how I want the room to look, and where I want to place each thing. After finishing hanging the curtains it looked like this

I left the bookcase next to the window since the back of it has almost the same patter as the curtains, which I didn't do on purpose I ended up noticing later on, I guess in the back of my mind I already had the idea. Anyways. I decided to try and see how the locker would look right above it, and I have to say it work very well.

It totally makes the whole thing come together, don't ya think?

And, what about the storage, is great how much stuff fits in it. I have yet to fill it in but I have I few things.

It's great since you always have a few things that you don't exactly want to show, but you still want to have available, and this thing is great at it.

I have a few glues, paints, chalk, safety pins, needles.

Glitter (not that is not great to show off by the way).

As for the rest of the book case, I been trying to put everything into cute little containers, where they can look better.

Like a jar for ribbons, blows for pins and little googly eyes (if you look closely haha) color pencils.

A lot of times when you display stuff, is so much easier to find it once you're looking for it.

This is the case with some letter stamps, or color thread.

Books are also great for display.

Like I said, there's still stuff for me to fill in but, I'm so happy is coming along and that is one less thing to worry about,, what do you guys think? do you like it or not? I did thought about painting it but, I do believe that every room should have a pop of red. (Not that the room need they pop huh) hahah
